Male bison rescued in Goa

PANAJI: An adult male gaur (Indian bison) that was reported to be struggling in a well near village Savarde, Sattari in a private property was rescued by the Goa forest department on Thursday.


Sources said that the animal might have fallen in the trench in the darkness of the night. However, When discovered it was agile and active and trying with all its strength to come out of well.

The North Goa Forest Division's Special Forest Protection Squad used a JCB machine to break open one side of the well to make space available to the gaur to come out.

The wild animal was rescued successfully after a 10 minute operation, officials said.
