Later, the ASI and havildar took the accused to Kostha Community Health Centre (CHC) for a medical check-up, which is a routine procedure adopted by police before producing accused in court. However, the accused somehow fled from the CHC with the patrolling bike, leaving behind his own motorcycle, sources said.

The entire matter came to light only after the patrolling bike was recovered from a forest near Udala College today.

Two cases have been registered against the accused in this regard at Suliapada police station. While the police bike was recovered from Udala police station area today morning, the accused is still at large.

Meanwhile, Mayurbhanj superintendent of police (SP) has placed the ASI and havildar under suspension for dereliction of duty.
