Man gets 7-year jail term for raping tribal woman in Jajpur

Jajpur: The Jajpur District and Sessions Judge Court awarded seven years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a person for raping a tribal married woman in Kalinga Nagar police station area of Jajpur district in 2017.

The court also imposed a penalty of Rs 5,000 on convict Ladar Mahakud for the offence.

The Judge pronounced the judgement after examining statements of 13 witnesses.

On January 26, 2017, Mahakud had raped the woman near Bhimatangar while she was returning from Duburi.
