Man gets life term for raping 5-year-old girl in Durg

RAIPUR: A special POCSO court in Durg has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for raping a 5-year-old girl .

The court of special (POCSO) and fifth additional sessions judge Shubhra Pachauri found Premchand Deshlahre guilty and awarded him life imprisonment for raping the minor girl, additional public prosecutor Kamal Kishore Verma told TOI.

On February 22, 2016, the accused entered into the house of minor girl, when she was alone and raped her. The father of minor girl had gone to work while her mother had gone to a nearby pond for taking bath.

The matter came to light, when the minor's uncle narrated the rape incident to her father. On the same day, her family lodged a complaint.

The special POCSO court found the accused guilty and sentenced him to life term as per IPC section 376 (2), along with penalty of Rs 5000 and 10 years of rigorous imprisonment as per section 4 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and imposed fine of Rs 1000.
