Man held for running illegal arms factory
Jhansi: Police arrested a man from Mauranipur tehsil in Jhansi district and recovered six country-made hand guns and some partly made guns on Tuesday.
SSP, Jhansi OP Singh said that the accused Shahabuddin (45) was running an arms factory from his house in Gopalganj in Mauranipur around 70 km from Jhansi for quite some time.
On the tip-off, the police raided his house on Monday night and recovered three 12 bore guns, one 315 bore gun, one 32 bore gun and three semi-finished hand guns besides several parts required in assembling guns.
The accused has been booked under sections 3/5/25 of the Arms Act and sent to jail. "Investigation is being conducted to ascertain whether the accused has sold these guns to anyone or not", the SSP said.
