Man kills 3-yr-old son, hangs self in Chittorgarh

Udaipur: A man was found hanging from the ceiling of a bathroom of someone else’s house in Bhadsoda town of Chittorgarh district on Friday. Before committing suicide, the man strangulated his three-year-old son and threw the body in a hole dug up for making septic tank in an under construction house in the vicinity, the police said.

The deceased was identified as Vijendra Kumar, a resident of Jawahar Nagar in Bhilwara. The house where Vijendra’s body was found belongs to one Sanjay Kumar.

The matter came to light when the house owner Sanjay's wife went to the bathroom built on the third storey of their house. The woman screamed out of shock on seeing the body hanging from the ceiling. Bhadsoda SHO Bhawani Shankar and his team reached the spot and shifted the body to the mortuary.

The deceased was identified by the registration details of the unclaimed motorcycle found in the area. Vijendra worked in a cloth mill in Bhilwara and was missing since Thursday evening. He had left home with his three-year-old son, the police said.

When CCTV footage from a motorbike showroom in the area was collected, the police saw Vijendra carrying the child in his arms. When policemen searched for the child in the vicinity, his body was found in the septic tank of an under construction house, around 200 metre away from the spot.

Police are investigating on how Vijendra managed to reach the third storey of Sanjay's house. Stress and family disturbance is suspected to be the reason behind the murder and suicide, police said.
