Man kills nephew with axe over family dispute in Barmer district

Jaisalmer: Man murdered his nephew with an axe on Saturday over family dispute at Beriwalatala village under Sadar police station area in Barmer district. The family of the deceased have lodged a case against six people including the uncle. Both the families had a dispute over the route from field for last 10 years. The accused uncle has been identified as Mag Singh.

The deceased has been identified as Kalyan Singh (25). The body was handed over to the family after autopsy. Investigation into the matter is underway.

SHO Kishan Lal said that Sawai Singh, a resident of Beriwalatala village, lodged a case that on Saturday his brother Kalyan Singh had left for fields. During that time his uncle Mag Singh, Devi Singh, Sawai Singh, sons of Mag Singh, their wives and another relative together attacked Kalyan with sticks. After he tried to run away all the accused pulled him back and took him to their house. Then the uncle killed him with axe, threw the body and ran away.

SHO said that during probe it was found that families of Nen Singh and Laxman Singh have a dispute over the route from the fields for last 10 years. Both the families could not come to any agreement. Two months ago, Mag Singh had lodged a case against Kalyan for setting a hut on fire and the latter was in jail for two months.

Police have taken some of the suspects in custody and are interrogating them.
