Man sentenced to life imprisonment

Srikakulam: A local court on Friday sentenced one Konkyana Govinda Rao to life imprisonment and slapped a fine of Rs 2,000 on charges of murdering his wife. Govinda Rao is from Chennapuram village under Narasannapeta police station in Srikakulam district.

According to Srikakulam police, on February 20 this year, Govinda Rao entered into a heated argument with his wife, suspecting her fidelity.

He hit her on the head with a cricket bat, causing her severe head injury. His wife died without responding to medical treatment.

The then circle inspector (CI) J Murali had registered the case under Narasannapeta police station limits and carried out the investigation,

The court gave its final verdict on Friday. Judge M Babitha delivered the judgement.
