Man shot dead at wedding ceremony in Etah

AGRA: A man in his early 20s was shot dead at a wedding ceremony in a remote village under Sakeet police jurisdiction of Etah district.


The incident occurred late on Wednesday night in Duttpur village. The victim, identified as Gaurav Singh, was having dinner when he was shot dead. According to police, three men have been booked based on the written complaint given by victim’s father Balister Singh.



Speaking to TOI, station house officer of Sakeet, Kritpal Singh said, “Three men, identified as Pawan, Lalit and Ravi have been booked under IPC section 302 (murder). The exact reason behind the crime is yet to be ascertained as the victim’s family is in trauma and the accused are absconding.”

He said, “All four men were having dinner together when a conversation turned into a heated argument and main accused Pawan took out countrymade pistol and shot Gaurav Singh. Gaurav was taken to the hospital where he died. Police teams are searching for the accused.”

After autopsy, victim’s body was handed over to his relatives for the last rites.
