Manipur sees two more deaths, registers 249 cases in last 24 hrs

IMPHAL: Manipur witnessed 2 deaths and its highest single-day spike of 249 cases in the last 24 hours. While its coronavirus toll stood at 10, the new cases took its caseload to 3,466.

Elaborating on the deaths, the state’s health department said the patients were 76 and 28 years old and were residents of Kangpokpi district and Chandel district respectively.

It added that both of them had co-morbid health conditions.

Speaking on the cases, the health department’s additional director and spokesperson Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang said the newly-infected persons include 84 civilians and 165 Central Armed Police Force personnel. Among the civilians, 63 persons have no significant travel history.

As 1,926 patients have been discharged from different Covid care facilities, the active cases in the state stand at 1,530, the statement added. To date, 694 persons have been confirmed as locally transmitted Covid-19 cases, and the rate of locally transmitted cases among all positives is 20%, the statement read.

The health department asked people to contact a 24x7 free helpline number (1800-103-2015) if they faced problems with regards to treatment at hospitals.
