Manish Tewari promises 50,000 cr investment in Anandpur Sahib

Congress candidate from Shri Anandpur Sahib Manish Tewari today promised that during the next five years he will ensure an investment of at least Rs 50,000 crores in the nine assembly constituencies of the parliamentary segment.Addressing a meeting of the lawyers and later speaking during the campaign meetings, Tewari said, he had identified unemployment to be the main problem in the area.

“Other than Mohali, there is virtually no industry within the parliamentary segment and I will ensure that land along the hills is provided to the industry at a relatively cheaper price as compared to rest of Punjab”, he said, while adding, “I see no reason as why Baddi and Nalagarh in the neighbouring Himachal Pradesh can become industrial hubs and not the areas falling inside Punjab”.Elaborating his plan, he said, he expects to bring in on an average Rs 10,000 crores every years through the government of India, the state government and the private investors. “With the onset of the Congress government led by Capt Amarinder Singh the investors are feeling confident to invest their money in Punjab and this area along the foothills can be best utilised for that as it has multiple advantages one of these being proximity to the Mohali International Airport”, he said.

Tewari questioned his Akali opponent Prem Singh Chandumajra whether he had ever thought along similar lines. “Had he really bothered about bringing investment into the area, he could have done it as it was a BJP led government at the centre of which his party was a part and parcel as also for the first three years of his tenure there was an Akali-BJP government in the state also”, he pointed out, while regretting that Chandumajra showed neither any interest nor any inclination towards improving the lot of his people. The Congress candidate promised that with Rs 50,000 crores of investments, which he said is the minimum as it could go up, at least 5 lakh jobs will be generated and the unemployment problem will be addressed to a large extent. “Just give me a chance and give me your vote, I will show how the results are delivered”, he said.Tewari was accompanied by local MLA and Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rana KP Singh and several other local leaders.
