Manoranjan gears up for most 'massy' avatar yet

Since his film debut, Manoranjan Ravichandran has heard two ‘complaints’ — that his Kannada diction needs improvement and that his choice of movies is more class than mass. While Manoranjan has been working on his Kannada language proficiency, his attempt at an image makeover was stalled when Chillum, for which he had buffed up, got derailed.

The actor is looking at remedying this with his next, Mugilpete , which will be a commercial entertainer.
“Mugilpete is a film that was pitched to me a couple of years ago. I had liked it back then, but it is only now that everything has fallen into place. This is a full-on commercial film that will have Sadhu Kokila and Rangayana Raghu in pivotal roles along with me. In fact, Sadhu Kokila will walk away with the first half, which promises to be quite a laugh riot. As for my role, I play an agent for a motor financing company, who seizes vehicles of loan defaulters. I have three major fight sequences in the film, which is a first for me. While my films so far have had action, it was never the highlight. In fact, I hoped that audiences would appreciate my dance skills. As it turns out, though, I have got positive feedback for my action scenes, so, I am hoping that Mugilpete will satisfy audiences on that account,” says the actor, who will take off on a 30-35-day schedule to locations like Sakleshpur and Theerthahalli, among others, after the film’s muhurtha today.
Is he looking at an image makeover, though, with this film? “Not really. It is still early stages in my career and I am trying to figure out what audiences want from me. In fact, one of the scripts that I am considering to take up offers me a role with shades of grey. Then, there is also the musical that my dad, (actor-director V Ravichandran), will direct. So, I am not hung up about doing a particular kind of films or roles. So far, I have listened to feedback from my near-and-dear ones and made career decisions accordingly. Now, I want to listen to my audience,” he signs off.
