Maoists kill youth in Kanker district

RAIPUR: A 19-year-old youth was shot dead by Maoists in Kanker district on Monday night.


The youth was identified as Shyamnath Anchala. He was killed in Koyalibeda area at Jungda village.

Police said, as per locals a group of Maoists reached Anchala's house and abducted him. They took him into the forest and killed him the same night.

His family informed the police about the abduction and within hours, Anchala's body was found near the edge of the forest. A police team recovered the body and brought it to base. Further details are awaited As per reports, Anchala was recently interrogated by police in connection with the murder of a schoolteacher in Koyalibeda area.

The body of the teacher, Dhansingh Usendi was found by the police on Aug 5. As per autopsy reports, Usendi had died of a head injury. During investigation, few suspects, including Anchala, were called for interrogation.

Anchala's murder is under investigation, and the motive behind it is being probed, said police.
