Margao man writes to PM for pharmacy

Margao: Responding to a letter sent by a Margao resident to prime minister Narendra Modi over the need for a Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra (government medical store) in Margao, the department of public grievances of the union government has now written to the directorate of health services (DHS) “to conduct necessary inquiry and take appropriate action” on the complaint made online to Modi.

The DHS has been asked to send them the action-taken report within 15 days. Navin Pai Raikar, a resident of Aquem, Margao, had on August 12 written to the PM that the only Janaushadhi Kendra that was functioning in Margao has been closed down for reasons unknown, thereby forcing people to buy their regular requirement of medicines from private pharmacies thereby exerting financial burden on their families. Raikar, in his letter had also suggested that the pharmacy be opened either at old collectorate building or in the Matanhy Saldanha Administrative Complex, as they are conveniently located for residents.
