Margao-Ponda private bus skids off road at Raia

Margao: Passengers of a Margao-Ponda private bus had a narrow escape after their bus skidded off the road and landed in the adjoining fields at Camurlim, Raia, on Monday afternoon.

Police sources said that the bus veered out of control of the driver while negotiating a turn and skidded resulting into the bus turning on its side.

On hearing the screams of panicked passengers, locals rushed to the site.

They helped the passengers to come out of the bus through the doors and windows.

According to police sources, several passengers sustained minor bruises. Nobody was hospitalised.

Police sources said that the Regional Transport Office (RTO) was in the process of verifying what the exact cause behind the accident.

The bus driver claimed, as police sources pointed out, that the steering rod broke off while the driver was negotiating the turn.
