Mercury dips after fresh snowfall on Himachal hills

Manali: The hills of Himachal Pradesh on Monday experienced fresh snowfall which caused sudden drop in the temperature.

The peaks of Kullu, Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Chamba including Rohtang pass and Baralacha pass received fresh snow in the morning, plummeting the temperature in the state by 3 to 4 degrees in the last 24 hours. While Rohtang pass received 5cm of snow, Baralacha was covered with over 15cm of snow. The snow had partially affected traffic movement on Manali-Leh highway in the night time near Baralacha pass. Lahaul-Spiti police is regulating the traffic from Darcha. The police have advised travellers not to risk their lives and avoid driving during night time in case of inclement weather. tnn
