Mild showers, dense fog in various parts of Rajasthan

JAIPUR: Despite winters having entered its last leg, isolated places in the state witnessed dense fog. People in Churu, Sikar, Pilani and Jaisalmer woke up to dense fog owing to the recent mild winter showers that happened.


On highway leading from Sikar to Bikaner dense fog obstructed the visibility which affected the flow of traffic on Monday morning.

Vehicles were seen moving at slow pace to avoid accidents. According to Met department officials, Churu received 0.2 mm of rainfall, while light rainfall occurred at isolated places in east Rajasthan . However, weather remained dry in western part of the state. Visibility in areas like Churu, Pilani, Sikar and Jaisalmer was reduced to 50 metres.

Few parts of the state have witnessed sudden change in weather as minimum temperature has taken a dip in these areas by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius including in Bhilwara, Chittorgarh, Dabok, Pali and Barmer. According to the Met department report, Sikar was the coldest place with 10 degrees Celsius while Phalodi recorded highest maximum temperature at 30 degrees Celsius.

Monday was partly cloudy with winds in the Pink City. The city reported 13.2 degrees Celsius. The Met department predicted that on Tuesday the sky would remain partly cloudy. However, in other parts of the state, weather is likely to be dry, officials said. Almost all the districts of the state recorded minimum temperature in the range of 10 degrees to 15.2 degrees Celsius. Jaisalmer recorded 11.3 degrees Celsius, Sriganganagar recorded 11.7 degrees, Dabok 12.6 degrees, Barmer 12.8, Bikaner and Ajmer 13 degrees, while Kota recorded 14 degrees and Jodhpur recorded 15.2 degrees Celsius.
