Mob thrashes two minors in Bihar's Vaishali

PATNA: A mob brutally thrashed two minor children at Afzalpur village under Patedhi Belsar police outpost in Vaishali district on the suspicion of being thieves on Wednesday night. The injured have been rushed to the Sadar hospital at Hajipur where the condition of one of them is stated to be critical.


The incident took place when the victims were found moving in suspicious manner in the banana orchard of one Bipin Patel on the outskirts of Afzalpur village.

While four of their associates managed to escape, the two minors were caught and brutally assaulted after being tied with an electric pole .

On getting information, a police team from Belsar police outpost reached the village and rescued the victims from mob fury. The station house officer of Patedhi Belsar police outpost Santosh Kumar said that the victims were stated to be residents of Sariaya in Muzaffarpur district .

The SHO said that the minors taken into custody had no criminal antecedents. The locals, on the other hand, said that the minors had entered the orchard to steal banana but were caught by the locals. They claimed that incidents of theft have increased alarmingly during Covid-19 lockdown in the area.
