Mohali: Man tries to rape daughter on the run

MOHALI: The police on Wednesday booked a 40-year-old property dealer for allegedly trying to rape his 12-year-old daughter multiple times.


The matter came to light when she was rescued by a passerby while the accused was chasing her. The passerby took her to Balongi police station, where she lodged a complaint.

Police sources said that the accused was separated from his wife but their two daughters lived with him. Deep Kamal, Kharar DSP, said, "We have registered a case and the next action will be taken after conducting a medical examination of the girl." In Chandigarh, police on Tuesday arrested a Sector 32 resident for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marrying her. The woman also alleged that accused threatened to upload her obscene pictures on social media. In another case, a 24-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping a 12-year-old-girl, who is now pregnant. The incident came to light when the girl complained of pain in her abdomen and her parents took her to a hospital.
