Monitoring team to keep watch on Jagraon bridge work

Ludhiana: In a step crucial for supervision of the construction work of the Jagraon bridge, the railway has appointed a monitoring team, while getting some CCTV cameras installed along with a control room at the construction site for keeping a vigil on the speed of work, so that the project can be completed in time without facing any delays.

Sources in the railway department said, “The railways has set the deadline of December 31 for completing the construction work of the Jagraon bridge, work on which has already faced a delay of several months in its completion as earlier the department had set the deadline of completing this project in June. But due to lack of co-ordination among the different departments the project got delayed and gave a tough time to commuters, who had to pass through the closed side of the bridge on the Jagraon side,” sources said.

A railway official on the condition of anonymity said, “The railways has set up a control room with CCTV cameras to overlook the construction work of the Jagron bridge, so that there are no further delays and it is completed in the given timeframe. The only reason for installing all such surveillance system is to keep a check on the working of officials, so that they can be held responsible for any delay in the project.”

“We all are working round-the-clock for completing this development project in the stipulated time as we have observed that people of the city were fed up with this slow speed of work and wanted to get its resolved as early as possible,” officials said.
