Monkey deaths continue in Vrindavan

AGRA: Mysterious deaths of simians continued in Vrindavan as another monkey was found dead on Wednesday by forest department officials.

Confirming this, district Veterinary Officer, Dr Dipendra Singh said that the decomposed body of a young monkey had been found and sent for post-mortem. He said the simian had died almost three days ago, and hence it would be difficult to ascertain the cause of death.

Autopsy of a monkey which had died on Monday revealed it had been poisoned. The veterinary officer sent its viscera for chemical examination to Forensic lab Agra to further to confirm the initial report.

Social worker Deepak Parashar said that the neither forest department nor the administration had taken up this matter seriously. He claimed that over a dozen monkeys had been killed in the last three-four days.

When contacted, district forest officer Arvind Kumar refused to talk on the issue of monkeys’ death in Vrindavan.
