MP: 1 killed in road accident in Dewas; folk singer Tipaniya among 4 injured

INDORE: One person was killed and four others, including folk singer and Congress leader Padamshri Prahlad Tipaniya , were injured in a car accident near Ashta town of Sehore district on Thursday.


Tinapiya, a renowned folk singer who performs Kabir bhajans in the Malwi folk style, was on way from Dewas to Bhopal when the accident took place at Khadijod village, 12 kms from Ashta, police said.

The driver of the car tried to evade a stray cow on the road that caused the vehicle to overturn, they said adding the injured were rushed to a hospital in Dewas.

One Jagdish Randankhedi died due to the injuries sustained in the accident, hospital sources said.
Tipaniya had sustained a broken rib, but was stable.

He was travelling with Yogesh Patel alias Mamu and Pradeep Choudhary. The SUV was driven by one Tulsi alias Lakhan. They were admitted to the hospital with multiple injuries.

Tipaniya had contested last Lok Sabha elections from Dewas-Shajapur constituency from a Congress ticket and had lost to BJP’s Mahendra Singh Solanki.
