MP: Habibganj, Bhopal stations rank low on Swachh scale

BHOPAL: Improving its position by a notch the West Central Railway (WCR) has jumped one rank to 8th position in the Swacchata Survey Report 2019 released by the Indian Railways on Wednesday.


Katni topped in WCR with 34th rank and 864.46 points, while the two railway stations in the cleanest capital city – Bhopal and Habibganj (India’s model station) secured 335th and 391st rank at the national level of out of 611 stations.



According to the report, 28 stations of Madhya Pradesh secured rank in the Swacchata survey. Hoshangabad performed worst with 575 (526.57 points). Katni with 864.46 points secured 34th rank.

In the Swacchata Survey report 2018 Bhopal had figured nowhere. Habibganj, which was undergoing renovation as a model station, was also not considered.

The Indian Railways has been conducting third party audit and cleanliness ranking of major stations annually since 2016.

This year, the survey was expanded to include stations and suburban stations were also included for the first time.
