MP: Teachers help mass copying during exams at Barwani schools

BARWANI: Many primary and middle schools of Barwani district allegedly witnessed mass copying during examinations on Wednesday. The blatant practice indicated the apathy of the concerned department.

The situation became grave to such an extent that teachers allegedly wrote answers on blackboards and provided guides to students.

Students were found sitting in groups for cheating at Pipliya Goi, Kalapat and Nawalpura villages in Sendhwa block and Niwali, Badgaon and Morgun villages of Niwali block schools.

In Badgaon, a teacher filled both the blackboards with answers, while in Nawalpura a female teacher was found helping students with guides.

In another primary school, a teacher, Aap Singh Arya was found showing answer of an objective question to a student. When Arya was asked why he showed the answer to the student, he fearlessly said, “I didn’t show all the answers. He was not getting past that question, so I only helped him answer a two-marks’ question.”

A Class 6 girl, Rupali, admitted that the answers written on the blackboards were of the questions asked in their exam, but she didn’t reveal who wrote them.

Sendhwa block education officer, PK Mathur told reporters that the flying squad did not find any cheating case during their inspection. But it seems that something was wrong as the videos and photos show mass copying at several schools, he said.

Meanwhile, Sendhwa SDM, Dr Yogesh Bharsath told TOI that he would take cognisance of the matter and order an inquiry.

Incidents of mass copying were also reported in two middle schools of Khargone district. Khargone district education officer, KK Dongre said that show-cause notices were issued to the teachers.
