Mud pile on road results in vehicles collision, three dead

Rajkot: Three persons were killed and three others injured after the rickshaw in which they were travelling rammed into a police multi-utility vehicle (MUV) at Barvala Cross Road in Botad district late Monday night.

The accident was caused after the autorickshaw flipped after one of its tyres ran over a pile of mud on the roadside and collided with police vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

An unidentified contractor, responsible for putting the mud pile on the roadside, was booked for negligence, said police.

The deceased include autorickshaw driver Vinod Sadariya, Manji Vaghela and Mohammad Shah. Three injured persons were shifted to hospitals in Botad and Ahmedabad. Police said that nearly half of the road was blocked by mud excavated for laying cables. The mud pile was not visible from a distance and that caused the accident, police said.
