Mumbai: BSP corporator cries at Kalyan civic body meeting over delay in water pipeline work

KALYAN: A woman corporator Soni Ahire of the Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation ( KDMC ) on Saturday started crying while blaming the civic body for not passing the water pipeline work of her ward in Manere and Ashele village area from last 4 years. On Saturday, during general body meeting she raised the issue that the administration deliberately not sanctioning the work in her ward.




Ahire is corporator from BSP party and had given her support to ruling Shiv Sena and BJP in KDMC. She claimed that the residents at her ward getting only two days water in a week from last several years due to the old pipelines.

"They have to face severe water crisis on daily basis following which they have applied for the replacment of the old pipelines with the new one. But four years have passed, KDMC has not sanctioned the fund of Rs 25 lakh for the work," she added.

Giving reply to Ahire’s complain, Rajiv Pathak, executive engineer of water department, said that the work was getting delayed because of the lack of interest of the contractors towards this project but recently a contractor has shown interest and very soon work would begin.
