Mumbai's metro network to be extended to 276km

Finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar said on Wednesday that the metro network in Mumbai will be extended to 276km from 11.4 km at present.

He said the government was also committed to completing metro projects in other cities expeditiously.

MMRDA, the executing agency for Mumbai Metro , has been given a nod for 276km of network, he said.

The metro will be extended to satellite towns surrounding Mumbai such as Thane, Mira Road, Bhayander, Vasai, Virar, Kalyan, Dombivali and Bhiwandi, said the finance minister.
