Munger University goes cashless, paperless: VC

PATNA: Munger University has gone paperless and cashless. An announcement in this regard was made by vice-chancellor (VC) Ranjit Kumar Verma at a recent meeting in Munger with heads of different departments and principals of the 27 colleges which fall under its jurisdiction.

According to Verma, the university has taken various steps to ensure transparency in its functioning in the larger interest of students.

“The colleges under Munger University’s jurisdiction have successfully implemented university management information system and the admission process is being carried out online,” Verma told this newspaper on Friday.

It has also been decided to allot a unique eight-digit registration number to each student of the university. “The last three digits will indicate their main subjects. Using this number, a student can look for information related to academics, admissions, university examinations and results on the university website,” Verma said.

Besides, the university is gearing up for a National Assessment and Accreditation Council tag. “Of the 27 colleges under Munger University, only two are NAAC accredited, while 14 of them are in the process of uploading their self-study reports to the council’s website,” Verma said, adding the university had appointed a coordinator to keep track of all such institutions.

Munger University will soon install CCTV cameras and build more toilets in different colleges. The VC said, “Principals and heads of postgraduate departments have been asked to ensure teachers’ presence. Biometric attendance system has been started for the purpose.”
