Must have Madhya Pradesh RERA bench in Indore: Experts

INDORE: Madhya Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) should have a permanent presence in Indore besides establishing coordination with local bodies to aid early resolutions for stuck projects, said realtors and industry experts.

Builders and legal experts said a permanent body should operate from Indore instead of two or three members’ team holding hearings thrice in a month in Indore.

Stakeholders also urged that RERA should not confine its power to just penalizing builders, but, should work as a facilitator in funding from banks for stuck projects and expediting approvals from local bodies.

Anirudh Malpani, an advocate representing cases at RERA said, “A permanent bench of members or authorizing officers should operate from Indore as against one RERA team visiting Indore thrice a month. This hinders and slows down the work.”

Recently, RERA, MP has also written a letter to Centre demanding power equivalent to consumer forum for effective implementation and compliance.

An executive member of Confederation of Real Estate Developers of India (CREDAI), Indore chapter wishing anonymity said, “RERA does not have any power other than penalizing builders. If RERA can help in getting quick approvals from local bodies that delays over years or help in getting funds from the banks then it will result in early completion of projects. This will help customers as well as builders.”

RERA should also give technical support to builders in understanding the norms, builders said.
