Guwahati: A labourer has died under mysterious circumstances near a railway line at a place called Barles, in the border area of Aayapur, west of Assam's Karbi Anglong and Hojai district. He has been identified as 40-year-old Brijlal Chauhan Surajmal Chauhan of Mayilu-Rampur Dishau village under the Maylu sub-station and Kherni police station in West Karbi Anglong.

According to the information received about the incident, the said laborer was recently doing mud filling work on the side of Hawaiipur-Lamchhakhang on the night of 16th. But when he did not reach his house according to the regular time, his family started worrying about him. Police found the dead body covered with mud at Udali in Hojai district the next day.

The death of the said worker is an accident or murder, yet there is doubt on this. Today, on the third day of the incident, the resentment of the local people remains, but no untoward incident has occurred due to the strict guarding of the security forces. Local people and the family of the deceased have demanded fair investigation and appropriate compensation of the said mysterious incident.
