Agra: Mystery shrouds the death of a 16-year-old girl whose mutilated body was found on the railway tracks just half a km from her house in Farrukhabad district on Monday morning. The girl had gone missing on Sunday evening
The girl was a student of Class XII and a resident of a village under the jurisdiction of Shamshabad police jurisdiction.
According to police, the girl’s lower part of her body was missing and it has been sent for an autopsy. They suspect that she jumped before a running train though no suicide note has been found. They are awaiting the post-mortem report before taking any action in the matter.
However, the girl’s father has claimed that she was murdered. He is yet to file a complaint with police. “She was murdered and her body was dumped on the railway track. I have suspicions over a person but will first cremate my daughter and then take action,” he added.
According to the victim’s father, “She used to attend special chemistry classes in the evening hours. On Sunday, at about 6:30 pm, she left home to meet a friend. When she did not return home within 15 minutes, I went after her but there was no sign of her in the neighbourhood. Later, in the morning, a railway trackman found a body on the track and informed local residents. After that, I identified her as my daughter.”
Ram Babu Singh, station house officer of Shamshabad, said, “Prima facie it seems to be a case of suicide, though no note was recovered from the victim’s person. Victim’s legs were completely missing from the spot.” He could not explain where the rest of her body was.
Asked whether the girl was under any kind of pressure to have taken such an extreme step, Singh said, “We are probing the matter to ascertain the cause of her suicide. If necessary, we will question every family member to find if there is any other possible explanation for her death.”
When contacted, Pramod Chand Gangwar, principal of the Inter College where the girl was studying for last four years, expressed surprise over her gruesome death and said, “She was obedient and a disciplined student. She was good in studies and we never had any complaint about her. Don’t know how this tragedy happened with her.”
