Nagaland launches website for ILP ahead of Hornbill fest

GUWAHATI: Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio on Friday launched a portal to provide Inner Line Permits (ILP) - a move that is aimed to help lakhs of tourists who flock to the state for the Hornbill festival . Nagaland is the second state after Arunachal Pradesh to have an online facility for ILP.

The permit is required by tourists to visit Nagaland.

Dimapur is the only district in the state which is not under the purview of ILP.

The new portal was launched in the presence of deputy chief minister Y Patton. During the launch ceremony at the Nagaland civil secretariat in Kohima , state home department's principal secretary Abhijit Sinha said that any tourist who desires an ILP can get it online by visiting this Nagaland government website (www.ilp.nagaland.gov.in). "The online facility will ease the process of getting an ILP. It is also an important step in the state government's march towards e-governance. Furthermore, it will also improve the overall quality of monitoring the implementation of the permit programme as all the concerned enforcement agencies or the government will have access to real-time information of the applicants, the number of approvals obtained, the duration of visits and the places of visit," Sinha said.

He further said that the online ILP module is only for domestic tourists and is in addition to the manual mode which will continue to be operational.

The tourist may either take a print out of the ILP card or a digital copy of the same along with the government recognized photo identity proof, he added.

After going through the process of submitting requisite details, including the government-recognized identity proof, and after examination of the details, the approval will be granted electronically, he said.

"Once it is approved, the applicant will get a notification in the registered phone number and an email address sent conveying that the ILP application has been approved and the applicant may proceed for online payment. The applicant will then go the ILP portal and make online payment which is Rs 50 for 15 days and Rs 100 for 30 days." Sinha added.
