Nakul Nath wins from Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of over 38,000 votes

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath's son Nakul Nath has won his maiden election from the Chhindwara Lok Sabha constituency. As for the state, BJP is leading on all the other 28 seats of the state.

Nakul Nath will succeed his father who has represented Chhindwara ten times in the lower house.

Notably, it was the only seat apart from Guna that Congress won in 2014 against the so-called Modi wave.

Interestingly, during the campaign CM Kamal Nath told the voters to "Take him to the task and tear his clothes if he does not deliver." Nakul also invoked his father's works in his speeches.

Nakul was given the ticket as Kamal Nath is himself contesting a by polls to an assembly seat. He was not an assembly member but an MP when he took over as the CM and thus, required to become one within six months to continue in office, leaving Chhindwara Lok Sabha assembly.

The BJP had fielded tribal leader and former legislator Nathan Shah. During his campaign trail, Shah alleged Kamal Nath of winning the seats because of money power and by misleading the public with false assurances in the name of his closeness to the Gandhi family.
