Namakkal temple statues vandalized

Namakkal: Unidentified miscreants vandalised statues in Periyasamy temple at Pudukombai, under the foothills of Kolli Hills , in the early hours of Sunday. The Senthamangalam police have registered a case and initiated inquiry.

Around 2am on Sunday, two unidentified people pelted temple priest V Raghu’s house located closed to the temple with stones.

“I came out of the house after hearing sound and found window glass broken. Two men ran away from house and disappeared in the dark,” Raghu said.

When Raghu went inside the temple to check, he found statues of horses and guards were damaged.

On Monday morning, Ragu lodged a complaint with the Senthamangalam police, who inspected the temple.

“We didn’t get any clue as of now,” police said, adding that they would arrest the duo at the earliest.
