National Gatka Association Organises Hola-Mohala Gatka tournament

International Sikh Martial Art Academy (ISMA) and National Gatka Federation of India (NGAI) organized 5th traditional Gatka tournament on the auspicious occasion of Hola-Mohalla at Sri Anandpur Sahib in which eight Gatka teams have displayed their martial art skills.While addressing the gathering, Baba Avtar Singh Tibbi Sahib, Baba Jaspal Singh Baddowal, Baba Gurcharan Singh Dulchimajra and Baba Bakshish Singh Chak Mahorana said martial art game Gatka inherited by our revered Gurus helps to imbibes traditional values as well as helps in self-defence.

They have urged the youth to participate in this heritage game so as to make it more popular in the country.They have also condemned the act of a Delhi based person who had got registered the name of Sikh martial art and Gatka under trademarks act and urged the Sri Akal Takht sahib to take stern action against this person for this blatant violation. On this occasion, cash prizes were also distributed to the winning teams.On the occasion president of National Gatka Association Harjeet Singh Grewal has shared the achievements of Gatka association and motivated the players to get training in accordance with the prescribed rules.
He announced that under the aegis of World Gatka Federation and Asian Gatka Federation, the NGAI endeavors to include Gatka in the Olympic Games.Among others present on the occasion included Baba Sher Singh Chak Mahorana, Amarjit Singh Walia, Ranjit Singh Dhillon, Vice President of NGAI Sukhchain Singh Kalsani, General Secretary of Gatka Association Punjab Uday Singh Sirhind, ISMAA vice president Jaswant Singh Chhapa, coordinator Yograj Singh, finance secretary Baljeet Singh Saini, press secretary Harjinder Kumar, district Rupnagar Gatka association president Amarjit Singh Saini.
