Navi Mumbai: Fire breaks out in Airoli's Mahavir Plaza

NAVI MUMBAI: A major fire broke out in the upper floors of Mahavir Plaza in Airoli , sector 19, on Tuesday evening.


At least four fire engines and two skylifts have been sent to the spot for fire fighting.

"The Mahavir Plaza tower is 22 floors high. The fire call was received at 7.02pm. Besides the fire tenders, a 69-metre-high skylift has alse been pressed into action there," said a Navi Mumbai fire brigade official.

All the residents were quickly asked to evacuate the tower after the blaze was noticed.

Additional municipal commissioner of NMMC Ravindra Patil informed that the Airoli tower fire started on the 14th floor. Fortunately, the Navi Mumbai fire brigade switched off all the lifts, and so all the residents evacuated by using the stairs.
