JAMMU: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Zonal Unit Jammu on Monday arrested two drug peddlers and seized 34.5 Kg Charas from their possession.

According to a report, NCB officials intercepted a Toyota Corolla car bearing registration No DL-7CG-1566 at Ban Toll Plaza, Nagrota with two occupants. On search, the NCB officials recovered 34.5 Kg Charas from the vehicle. Consequently both the occupants were arrested.

The arrested drug peddlers have been identified as Bashir Ahmad Khan, resident of Gotlibagh, Ganderbal and Showkat Ahmad Dar, resident of Khanyar, Srinagar (J&K). "The drugs were kept inside the rear seat of the vehicle in a cavity specifically made with iron sheet for concealing 35 packets of Charas," a NCB official said.

"During preliminary investigations, arrested persons revealed that the drug was originated from Anantnag (Kashmir) and destined to Ajmer from where it was scheduled to be smuggled to Mumbai," he said, adding that this is the second big seizure of Charas with total quantity of Charas seized by NCB Jammu within a week touching 109 Kg.
