New LTC rules for West Bengal employees

KOLKATA: The state has issued new norms on Friday on leave travel concession ( LTC ) for employees who want to travel to a foreign country.

The missive issued by the additional chief secretary of finance department, H K Dwivedi, stated that some government employees were often availing of LTC, particularly in the neighbouring foreign countries, through some private tour operators and violating the government directives in the process.

The new norms stated that state employees can avail of LTC while on earned leave or on half-pay leave without commutation or on casual leave if the total period of absence is not beyond seven days. The missive said employees cannot make claims for reimbursement for any package tour, which might include food and lodging.

Moreover, employees have been directed to buy air tickets from booking counters of airlines or from their website. Those violating the norms will face disciplinary action.
