On Sunday, the first look of Amitabh Bachchan 's character from " Kalki 2898 AD " was unveiled, portraying him as the immortal Ashwatthama. Abhishek Bachchan , his son and fellow actor, was highly impressed by it. Director Nag Ashwin shared posters and a sneak peek of Amitabh's role over the weekend. Following the release of the first look, Abhishek Bachchan took to social media and expressed his reaction.

At the Synapse 2024 event in Gurgaon, Nag Ashwin unveiled details about his upcoming film "Kalki 2989 AD," which features Prabhas, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, Deepika Padukone, and Disha Patani in pivotal roles. Ashwin disclosed that the movie's narrative will commence with the epic tale of Mahabharat. He said, “The film starts with Mahabharat and ends in 2898 AD. It spans 6000 years in time. We tried to create worlds, imagining what they would be like while still keeping it Indian, and not make it look like Blade Runner. The film begins 6000 years behind 2898 AD is 3102 BC, which is when the last avatar of Krishna is believed to have passed.”
