Latest Update: Rajasthan Police Detain Fifth Accused Linked to Salman Khan Firing Case

The Mumbai Crime Branch has apprehended the fifth suspect from Rajasthan in connection with the shooting incident at Salman Khan 's residence.

The Mumbai Crime Branch announced that Mohammad Chaudhary, the accused, assisted shooters Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta by providing funds and conducting reconnaissance. Chaudhary is being brought to Mumbai today and will be presented in court, where custody will be requested.

On April 14, there was a shooting incident outside Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai's Bandra area, carried out by two individuals on motorcycles. Earlier, four individuals, including Sagar Pal and Vicky Gupta, were arrested in connection with this incident. According to the police, gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi are now wanted in relation to this case.

Anuj Thapan, one of the detained suspects, passed away while in Mumbai Police custody. Thapan, who was accused of supplying firearms and ammunition related to the shooting incident, was apprehended on April 26 in Punjab alongside Sonu Bishnoi and was held in police custody until April 30. The police have applied the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crimes Act (MCOCA) in this matter.

On April 29, the police presented all four accused, including Thapan, before a special court, which granted them police custody until May 8. Unfortunately, Thapan was discovered deceased in the lock-up restroom of the crime branch within the commissionerate complex at Crawford Market on May 1.

The family of Anuj Thapan has approached the Bombay High Court, requesting a CBI investigation into his death. Contrary to the police's assertion that Thapan committed suicide while in custody, his mother Rita Devi stated in her petition filed on Friday that there was foul play involved and alleged that he was murdered.
