Preity Zinta Eyes Sequel For Iconic Role In Sangharsh: Fans Buzz With Excitement

In the labyrinth of Bollywood's archives lies the psychological horror thriller ‘Sangharsh’, a film that etched itself into the memories of audiences with its gripping narrative and stellar performances.

Among its standout characters was Preity Zinta's portrayal of CBI officer Reet Oberoi, a role that showcased both vulnerability and resilience.
Recently, Zinta expressed her enthusiasm for the idea of a sequel to ‘Sangharsh’, reigniting discussions among fans and filmmakers alike.

Zinta's Desire for a Sequel
During an #AskPZ session, Zinta revealed her longing for a sequel to ‘Sangharsh’, emphasising its significance among her body of work. “Sangharsh for sure. Rest can’t think of any right now,” she affirmed when asked about a film deserving a sequel, underscoring the enduring impact of her character, Reet Oberoi.

Director Tanuja Chandra's Perspective
Director Tanuja Chandra, the creative force behind ‘Sangharsh’, weighed in on the possibility of revisiting the iconic film. While acknowledging the appeal of seeing Reet Oberoi in an older yet equally courageous avatar, Chandra clarified that a sequel is not currently in the cards. However, she remained open to the idea if circumstances permitted, acknowledging the resonance of the character even years later.

“I am so glad that the film is so well remembered after all these years,” Shecontinues, “It would be wonderful to see Reet Oberoi again in an older avatar, but still as courageous and cool as she always was.”

Exploring Untold Narratives: Akshay Kumar's Character
In ‘Sangharsh’, Akshay Kumar portrayed Professor Aman Verma, a character shrouded in mystery and depth. Despite the character's intriguing backstory, it remained largely unexplored in the film.

When questioned about the potential for a standalone spin-off centred on Aman Verma, Chandra acknowledged the challenge of portraying him as a younger man, indicating the complexities involved in such an endeavour.

She said, “Well, I cannot really show him as a young man now… so we’ll have to let that one go.”

Zinta's Reflections on Working with Ashutosh Rana
Reflecting on her experience of working on ‘Sangharsh’, Zinta recalled her collaboration with Ashutosh Rana, who delivered a spine-chilling performance as the villainous Lajja Shankar Pandey. Despite the accolades for Rana's portrayal, Zinta's memories of the shoot are tinged with adversity, including a broken leg, chipped teeth, and a cut lip. Yet, amidst the challenges, she acknowledged Rana's brilliance and the impact of his performance on the film's narrative.

As discussions surrounding the possibility of a ‘Sangharsh’ sequel continue to simmer, fans and filmmakers alike await with bated breath, hoping to once again journey into the gripping world of Reet Oberoi and the enigmatic Professor Aman Verma.
