Following technical surveillance, they were apprehended on April 16 from the vicinity of a temple at Mata No Madh near Bhuj town in Gujarat by collaborative efforts of the Mumbai and Kutch police. Subsequently, they were transferred to the custody of the Mumbai police for further investigation.

Sources revealed that during interrogation, the duo informed the police that they disposed of the weapon into the Tapi river from a railway bridge while fleeing to Bhuj in a train. This action followed their journey from Mumbai to Surat by road after the firing incident outside Khan's residence. Police stated that prima facie, the main intention of the duo in firing outside Khan's residence was to instill "terror."

The Mumbai police have officially declared jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi and his younger brother Anmol Bishnoi as "wanted accused" in connection with the incident. According to authorities, Gupta and Pal purportedly received instructions from the two Bishnoi brothers.

Lawrence Bishnoi is currently incarcerated at the Sabarmati central prison in Gujarat in connection with another case, while his brother is suspected to be residing in either Canada or the United States, as per earlier statements from an official.
