UP Lok Sabha Elections Phase 2: Voting To Begin For 8 Seats. Check Constituencies, Candidates, And Past Winners From 2014 And 2019

As the electoral wheel keeps turning, the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections in Uttar Pradesh gears up for action on April 26th, featuring eight constituencies. These battlegrounds include Amroha, Meerut, Mathura, Baghpat, Aligarh, Ghaziabad, Gautam Buddh Nagar, and Bulandshahar.

In Amroha, Meerut, Baghpat, and Gautam Buddh Nagar, a three-sided tussle is expected between the ruling NDA coalition, the Opposition INDIA alliance, and the Bahujan Samaj Party.
Meanwhile, Mathura and Ghaziabad brace for a head-to-head clash between the BJP and Congress , while in Aligarh and Bulandshahar, it's a showdown between the BJP and the Samajwadi Party led by Akhilesh Yadav.

Now, let's zoom in on some notable contenders in this electoral dance. Hema Malini, a familiar face from Bollywood, seeks her third term from Mathura, setting the stage for a clash with Congress' Mukesh Dhangar.

But Mathura isn't the only stage where star power shines. In Meerut, the BJP enlists the iconic Arun Govil, renowned for portraying Lord Ram in the classic 1987 serial Ramayan, to take on SP's Sunita Verma and BSP's Devvrat Tyagi.

Meanwhile, incumbent MP Kunwar Danish Ali aims for a repeat victory in Amroha, historically devoid of political strongholds. He switches to the Congress camp this time, facing off against BJP's Kanwar Singh Tanwar and BSP's Mujahid Hussain.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the winners in several constituencies were as follows: Kunwar Danish Ali from the BSP won in Amroha, Rajendra Agarwal from the BJP emerged victorious in Meerut, Hema Malini secured the seat for the BJP in Mathura, Dr. Satypal Singh retained his position for the BJP in Baghpat, Satish Kumar Gautam won for the BJP in Aligarh, General (Retd.) V K Singh maintained his seat for the BJP in Ghaziabad, Dr. Mahesh Sharma succeeded in Gautam Buddha Nagar for the BJP, and Bhola Singh held onto his position for the BJP in Bulandshahar.

Phase 1 of Lok Sabha Elections

The inaugural phase of the general elections saw voting unfold in eight Lok Sabha constituencies within the state on April 19th. These included Pilibhit, Saharanpur, Kairana, Muzaffarnagar, Bijnor, Nagina, Moradabad, and Rampur. By 7 pm on April 19th, the voter turnout for this phase stood at 58.49 percent in the state.
