Ex-India Star Targeted: Body-Shamed After Calling Out Glenn Maxwell as 'Over-Rated

On Saturday , Royal Challengers Bengaluru pulled off a remarkable chase against Gujarat Titans , securing victory by chasing down a target of 148 in just 13.4 overs in Bengaluru. Despite the seemingly comfortable number of overs left, the journey wasn't devoid of challenges for RCB .

With six wickets down, the match hung in the balance until Dinesh Karthik and Swapnil Singh 's resilient partnership salvaged the situation for RCB.
The chase commenced with vigour for RCB, swiftly crossing the Powerplay threshold.

However, what appeared to be a smooth sail for RCB soon turned turbulent as wickets began to tumble. Their promising start of 92/0 in 5.4 overs quickly deteriorated to 111/6 in 10.4 overs. While Faf du Plessis (64) and Virat Kohli (42) showcased stellar performances, others like Will Jacks (1), Rajat Patidar (2), Glenn Maxwell (1), and Cameron Green (1) failed to leave a mark, falling consecutively like a deck of cards.

Former Indian cricket team wicketkeeper Parthiv Patel didn't mince words, labelling Glenn Maxwell as overrated. "Glenn Maxwell....HE IS THE MOST OVERRATED player in the history of ipl ...#IPL2024 ...." he expressed on X.

For this remark, Patel faced a barrage of trolling and even body-shaming comments.

Amidst the banter, the match unfolded with Royal Challengers Bengaluru oscillating between brilliance and self-destruction. However, a blazing half-century by captain Faf du Plessis provided the necessary impetus, guiding them to a hard-fought four-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in their IPL clash on Saturday.

Du Plessis' innings (64, 23b, 10x4, 3x6) and Kohli's contribution (42, 27b, 2x4, 4x6), highlighted by a blazing 92-run partnership in just 35 balls for the opening wicket, propelled Royal Challengers past the modest target of 148. Despite encountering nerve-wracking moments, mostly due to their lapses, RCB clinched a crucial win.

This victory elevated RCB to seventh place in the standings with eight points from 11 matches, keeping their slim hopes of qualifying for the playoffs alive.
