IPL 2024: Hardik Pandya Hails Suryakumar Yadav's Heroics In MI's Victory Against SRH

Following Mumbai Indians ' (MI) seven-wicket triumph against Sunrisers Hyderabad ( SRH ), team skipper Hardik Pandya commended batsman Suryakumar Yadav for his aggressive century . Yadav's remarkable performance not only salvaged the innings after an initial collapse but also kept the opposition bowlers under pressure throughout the match.
MI found themselves at three wickets down in pursuit of 174 runs, but Suryakumar's timely heroics, alongside a crucial 143-run partnership for the fourth wicket, steered MI to their fourth win of the season against SRH at Wankhede Stadium .

Addressing the post-match presentation, Hardik remarked, "It is unbelievable, the best part of Suryakumar is that he puts the bowlers under pressure. It is sheer confidence, his game has changed, is one of the best batters. He can change a game in a different way, lucky to have him (SKY) in our side."

"We want to focus on playing good cricket, still think we gave 10-15 runs extra. The way our batters batted, that was excellent. My bowling, I like to bowl in the right areas, I bowl according to the situation. Bowled in the right areas today and it worked."

Regarding Piyush Chawla's three-wicket haul, Pandya commented, "I was like Piyush Chawla had to bowl from the shorter side. He (Chawla) had to be accurate, the margin of errors have become smaller these days for the bowlers."

In the match, MI won the toss and opted to field first. SRH kept losing wickets at regular intervals, but knocks from Travis Head (48 off 30 balls, including seven fours and a six) and skipper Pat Cummins (35* off 17 balls, comprising two fours and two sixes) propelled SRH to 173/8 in their allotted 20 overs.

During the chase, MI faced early setbacks and were struggling at 31/3. However, Suryakumar (102* off 51 balls with 12 fours and six sixes) and Tilak Varma (37* off 32 balls, with six fours) counterattacked, guiding MI to victory with 16 balls to spare.

Suryakumar was awarded the 'Player of the Match' title.

MI currently holds the ninth position with four wins and eight losses, accumulating eight points. SRH stands fourth with six wins, five losses, and 12 points.
