Neeraj Chopra, the Olympic champion, completed his collection by securing gold at the World Athletics Championships on Sunday in Budapest. A historic first for India as he outshone his rivals, including Pakistan's Arshad Nadeem, with an 88.17m javelin throw.

Neeraj Chopra won the U-20 World Championships in 2016 with a throw of 86.48m, setting a new under-20 world record and beating Latvia’s Zigismunds Sirmais’ 84.69m mark. His throw remains the under-20 world and Asian record in javelin.

Neeraj Chopra had a golden debut at Commonwealth Games 2018, clinching India's first javelin gold. He followed Milkha Singh (1958), Krishna Poonia (2010), and Vikas Gowda (2014) as the fourth Indian athletics champion.

Neeraj Chopra won gold at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta with an 88.06m throw, becoming the first Indian javelin thrower to do so and setting a national record. Before him, Gurtej Singh won bronze in 1982 in New Delhi.

Neeraj Chopra's career pinnacle arrived in Tokyo 2021 as he secured India's second individual Olympic gold. His second throw, spanning 87.58 metres, marked history and earned him the gold. This victory made him India's first track and field athlete to medal at the Olympics.

Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian to win a Diamond League meet in Lausanne in 2022 with an 89.08m throw. This secured his spot in the Diamond League Final and qualified him for the 2023 World Athletics Championships.

In Sept 2022, Neeraj became the 1st Indian athlete to win Diamond League trophy at Zurich. His record-breaking 88.44m throw defeated Tokyo 2020 silver medallist Jakub Vadlejch and the reigning champion. Germany's Julian Weber came third with 83.73m.

Neeraj Chopra won silver at the 2022 World Athletics Championships in Oregon, USA with an 88.13m throw, becoming the first Indian to do so. This was India’s first medal in 19 years and only the second in history, after Anju Bobby George’s bronze in Paris in 2003.
