Watch: Outrage Erupts As Security Roughhandles Fan For Touching Virat Kohli's Feet In IPL Match

In a shocking turn of events during the IPL 2024 match between Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Punjab Kings at M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Monday, March 25, a fan faced brutal treatment from security officials after breaching the pitch to meet star batter Virat Kohli .

Following Punjab Kings' innings where they posted a target of 178 runs, Royal Challengers Bengaluru began their chase.
As Virat Kohli prepared to bat, a fervent fan dashed towards him, falling at his feet and embracing the former RCB captain. However, the fan's attempt to express admiration was swiftly curtailed as security personnel promptly removed him from the field to avoid further disruption.

The incident, captured on video and circulating widely on social media platforms, depicted the fan being subjected to physical assault by bouncers and security officials as he was escorted away from the scene. Despite the fan's pleas for mercy, the ordeal continued until police intervention led to his removal from the stadium premises. Reports suggest the altercation occurred on the first floor of the M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

Instances of fans breaching security protocols to approach their cricketing idols during matches are not uncommon. However, the use of excessive force by security personnel in handling such situations has raised serious concerns. While fans' enthusiasm is understandable, resorting to violence to maintain order reflects poorly on the security measures in place.

The incident has sparked widespread condemnation on social media platforms, with many expressing outrage at the treatment meted out to the fan. Criticisms have been directed towards the security officials, with calls for accountability and a review of protocols governing fan interactions during matches. Netizens have emphasised the need for a more humane approach in dealing with such incidents, advocating for protocols that prioritise fan safety without compromising on security measures.
