Pakistan Attempts Incursion for the Third Night in a Row; Drones Sighted in Jammu, Samba, and Pathankot: Key Updates So Far
On the evening of Friday, a fresh escalation occurred along India's border, with Pakistani drones being sighted in the Jammu, Samba, and Pathankot sectors. This unsettling development prompted immediate security measures, including the enforcement of a complete blackout in several areas.
Here are the key updates so far:
Drone Activity in Jammu Region: According to defense sources quoted by ANI, Pakistani drones were spotted flying over Jammu, Samba, and Pathankot sectors. As a result, a complete blackout was enforced in parts of Jammu, and sirens could be heard throughout the area.
Explosions and Interceptions: Explosions were reported in the Samba region, as India’s air defense systems intercepted the incoming drones. This heightened security was part of the ongoing effort to counter potential threats during the blackout period.
Udhampur and Srinagar Under Alert: The blackout extended to Udhampur in the Jammu Division, and sirens were heard across the region. In Srinagar, local authorities used mosque loudspeakers to advise citizens to turn off their lights as a precautionary measure to reduce visibility.
Public Appeal from Jammu’s Chief Minister: Chief Minister Omar Abdullah shared an update on the situation, noting, "Intermittent sounds of blasts, probably heavy artillery, can now be heard from where I am." He also posted an image of Jammu city enveloped in darkness, captioning it, " Blackout in Jammu now. Sirens can be heard across the city." Abdullah urged citizens to stay indoors for their safety, advising, "It's my earnest appeal to everyone in and around Jammu please stay off the streets, stay at home or at the nearest place you can comfortably stay at for the next few hours. Ignore rumours, don't spread unsubstantiated or unverified stories and we will get through this together."
The situation remains tense as authorities work to ensure the safety and security of the region, urging the public to stay alert and follow official instructions.
