Arunachal Pradesh district bordering China cut off as strategic Sikam Sibu bridge washes away

Road connectivity to the remote Shi-Yomi district, bordering China, in Arunachal Pradesh snapped after strategic Sikam Sibu bridge washed away in the floods triggered by incessant rains over the last couple of days, officials said on Friday. The district received heavy rainfall on the intervening night of June 2 and 3. The RCC (reinforced cement concrete)  bridge near Yapik village on the Aalo-Mechuka Road had washed away on Wednesday night, they said. State Assembly Speaker Pasang D Sona has urged the Border Road Organization (BRO) to take immediate action to restore the bridge. Read More

'World's first' Rs 16k crore Pune-Nashik semi high-speed rail given green signal

The much-awaited Pune-Nashik rail line project which will connect two key powerhouses of India’s richest was given the go-ahead on Thursday. The detailed project report (DPR) for the high-speed rail corridor was completed by the state-run Maharashtra Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (MRIDC) in February and sent for approval by the Railway Board and Maharashtra government.
