NIA raids PFI activists in Thanjavur, Trichy, Kumbakonam and Karaikal

Chennai : National Investigation Agency on Thursday raided 20 places in Tamil Nadu in its probe into the Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) activist Ramalingam.

A catering contractor from Thirubuvanam in Thanjavur district, Ramalingam, was murdered by a gang on February 6 allegedly by a group of Muslims for opposing religious conversions.

As per an FIR on the incident, Popular Front of India (PFI) activists murdered the PMK worker.

The NIA raids were concentrated at Thanjavur as also offices of the PFI and SDPI in Tiruchirapalli. Kumbakonam and Karaikal.

The raids were preceded by an NIA team going to Thiruvidaimaruthur police station and questioned the family members of Ramalingam on Wednesday.

Already 11 people have been arrested in the case.
